Over the coming days I will be answering some of the most common questions we receive from clients in our office regarding mortgages, rates, amortizations, debt consolidation. At Robert Floris’ Mortgage Architects located on the East Hamilton Mountain, we believe in educating our potential clients to help them make informed decision whether or not they decide to choose us. We do not believe in pressure sales. We believe in educating.
The first question we will be addressing today is:
CAN WE SHORTEN THE AMORTIZATION OF OUR MORTGAGE?
The most important areas we discuss for for building wealth is decreasing the number of years it takes to pay off your mortgage. High school math did teach us one thing; the quicker you pay off a loan, the less interest you pay. Every time a renewal or refinance is discussed, goals of amortization MUST be discussed or reflected upon.
There are multiple ways in which to do this:
Take advantageg of lower mortgages rates.
Insist on making accelerated payments.
Have a goal of increasing your mortgage payment slightly each year.
Save enough each year to put a lump sum down.
I mean really, who does NOT want to shorten their mortgage??
Tomorrow I will be addressing the following question:
Do I have a purpose when I refinance/renovate?
