• Can you get a mortgage if you are recently employed?

The short answer to this is: usually not.

However, there are some circumstances where you can qualify for a mortgage with a very short employment tenure.

Usually a job has at least a three month probationary period. If you have passed your probation and your salary or number of hours per week is guaranteed and you are full time permanent, then the income can usually be used to qualify for a mortgage.

If your income is not guaranteed, then the banks usually want to see at least two years of history of income from the same employer and they will take the average gross income when qualifying.
